Metta Infused Yin Yoga with Samantha Akers E-RYT500, C-IAYT, CMT
Join Sam for a special Yin Yoga workshop where you will also learn loving kindness phrases to infuse throughout your practice. Yin Yoga is beneficial to the Rest and Digest part of the nervous system as long held poses elicit the relaxation response. Asana are generally seated and poses are held for 2-4 minutes. These long holds also benefit the fascia of the body, by allowing the time this system needs to warm and lengthen. For more flexible bodies, Sam teaches stability to grow strength in the joint capsules. She teaches in her own way, with guidance into isometric contractions during stretch/stress, which allows the tendons and ligaments in and around the joints to lengthen and find stability at the same time. With her knowledge of biomechanics and the science of stretch and force load, she has created a Yin program that is not like any other. There will be sensation elicited in Yin, which is a perfect opportunity to recruit loving kindness phrases and the breath, that are used throughout the practice for the growth of softness and warmth around the heart. Sam believes that Yin Yoga is a powerful vehicle to bring in loving kindness and acceptance of oneself, contacting “what is” and surrounding this with friendliness and grace.
Please join Sam for this delicious practice, you may just fall in love with Yin AND yourself! Crystal bowls will be played during savasana.
This is an all levels workshop. 4:00-6:00pm. $25 before December 2nd and $30 at the door..:-)
